A few different engine options are available in the 2020 Toyota Corolla. The L, LE and XLE Corolla models all feature a 1.8L 4-cylinder engine with 139 horsepower and a continuously variable transmission with intelligence and shift mode, or CVTi-S. Estimated combined gas mileage is 33 mpg. Upgrade to the SE, SE 6MT or XSE and mpg averages 34 combined with a 2.0L 4-cylinder dynamic force engine providing 169 horsepower. The SE and XSE models feature a dynamic-shift continuously variable transmission, or CVT, while the SE 6MT features a 6-speed intelligent manual transmission. On the hybrid front, a 1.8L 4-cylinder engine with Hybrid Synergy Drive and electronically controlled continuously variable transmission, or ECVT, is included. Combined estimated gas mileage is 52 mpg. No matter which engine is chosen, the Corolla is designed to pack plenty of pep for highway or city drives.
The 2020 Toyota Corolla features a 60/40 split fold-down rear seat to increase cargo space when coupled with the trunk area. Base features also include Apple CarPlay, an integrated backup camera with path projection and a touch-screen for navigating advanced features, such as hands-free phone use and music streaming. With an upgrade to the LE package, display size jumps from seven to eight inches. Other add-ons include a backseat center armrest with cupholders and premium fabrics. XLE, XSE and the SE 6MT feature leather-trimmed seats and steering wheels as well as a Smart Key system for push button starting. Driver and passenger side front seats are also heated. The Hybrid LE ships with smart key and includes all LE features or upgrades.
All new Corollas feature eight airbags and Toyota Safety Sense 2.0. The 2.0 package incorporates a full suite of advanced safety technologies. These include a pre-collision system with pedestrian detection, lane departure alerts with assisted steering, road edge detection, automatic high beams, dynamic radar cruise control and lane tracing assist. The 2020 Toyota Corolla and hybrid version each received a five-star overall crash rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration with five stars in the front and side crash categories and four stars in the rollover crash category.
The 2020 Toyota Corolla L starts at $19,600 while the Hybrid LE starts at $23,100. Top packages like the XLE and XSE start at $24,050 and $25,550, respectively. A few optional add-ons could further up the price tag. As of Sept. 2019, Toyota is offering 2.9% APR, 60 month financing to well-qualified buyers on the Corolla. Alternative offers include $1,500 customer cash back or a 2020 LE lease for $179 per month for 36 months with $2,999 due at signing. Toyota also offers a $500 college graduate and $500 military discount.
